Human rights activists have launched a fundraising campaign for Zarema Musaeva.

Human rights activists are raising 300,000 rubles to purchase medications and dietary products for Zarema Musayeva. This amount will provide the political prisoner with everything she needs for six months.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," in early April, human rights activists sent a complaint from Chechen political prisoner Zarema Musayeva to the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention. In it, she stated that she is being punished for the actions of her sons, who criticize the Chechen leadership, and that the court hearings in her case are being conducted with violations.

In August 2025, the Shali Court of Chechnya sentenced Zarema Musayeva to three years and 11 months in prison for disrupting the work of a penal colony. On February 16, the Supreme Court of Chechnya overturned Musayeva's sentence and, at the prosecutor's request, remanded the case for a new trial. Following a retrial of the criminal case for disrupting the activities of a correctional facility, the court sentenced Zarema Musayeva to three years and 10 months in a penal colony. Musayeva appealed the sentence. The court unconditionally accepted the prosecution's case, and Zarema Musayeva's right to a defense during the two-day trial was violated, the defense stated.

The Team Against Torture* has launched a fundraiser for political prisoner Zarema Musayeva, who requires medication and special diabetic nutrition. The fundraising goal is 300,000 rubles, which will allow Zarema to "provide everything she needs" for six months. Human rights activists noted that Musayeva suffers from insulin-dependent diabetes, which requires constant blood sugar monitoring and a strict diet, and that "essential food and medications are often in short supply" in the prison colony. "The kit includes medications, diabetic food, fruits, vegetables, and other products that help maintain a therapeutic diet in prison. This will help Zarema not be left without the necessary medications and food in the prison colony," the organization's Telegram channel stated. The fundraiser is being conducted on the mutual aid platform "Zaodno." As of 9:20 p.m. Moscow time, 19,000 rubles (250 rubles) of the required amount have been raised.

“A donation of 500 rubles will allow us to buy water, juice, and several kilograms of seasonal fruit for the prisoner; 1,500 rubles will buy fresh fruit, vegetables, dried fruit, and diabetic food; 5,000 rubles will allow us to donate milk, meat products, fish, household chemicals, and hygiene products,” the KPP* noted.

In March 2025, human rights activists raised the same amount for a year's supply of medications, rehabilitation equipment, and consumables needed by Musayeva. Two-thirds of the required amount was raised in two weeks. “Thank you for your support, you are saving me,” wrote Zarema Musayeva after the medication donation.

Zarema Musayeva is the wife of former federal judge Saidi Yangulbaev. Chechen security forces took her away from her apartment in Nizhny Novgorod on January 20, 2022. After this, Ramzan Kadyrov accused the Yangulbayev family of organizing a terrorist network and stated that their place awaited them "in prison or underground."
