Tuapse residents are interested in the location of the disposal of bags of oil products collected on the beaches.

More than 20,000 cubic meters of pebbles contaminated with oil products have been collected and removed from the beaches of Tuapse. Social media users have inquired about the location where everything collected on the shore is being taken.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," sections of the Black Sea coast near Tuapse contaminated with oil products from the local oil refinery are being cleaned unevenly: active work is being carried out near urban infrastructure, but remote and "wild" beaches are being neglected, local residents and volunteers stated.

On May 1, a fire started at the Tuapse sea terminal after a drone attack. It was extinguished on May 2. This fire was the fourth in Tuapse since April 16. Earlier, on April 24, after booms broke due to rising water levels in the Tuapse River, an oil spill occurred into the Black Sea. A series of attacks on Tuapse's oil infrastructure led to environmental consequences, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "Fires and "Oil Rain": Key Information on the Ecological Disaster in Tuapse".

The "My Tuapse" Telegram channel today published an eight-minute excerpt from war correspondent Maryana Naumova's film about the Tuapse beach cleanup.

In the report, she talks with rescuers cleaning Anapa's central beach, firefighters who extinguished a fire at an oil refinery, and volunteers at the "We Are Together" headquarters. The video shows dozens of people cleaning the beach using equipment.

The video has garnered 22 comments.

Some users thought the picture was too rosy.

"Optimistic.  Everything is wonderful and blooming. A rosy picture, perfect for Channel 1," wrote Tatiana.

"Incomplete picture as always," agreed Ryzhaya.

Other users were interested in where the pebbles and oil products collected from the beach are taken.

"Where are they taken? No one said," stated Natalya.

"And why do you need it? They take it wherever it needs to go," responded Tatiana II.

"And "Don't people have the right to know?" Ryzhaya asked.

"I want the address," user dobroshh agreed.

Authorities have not disclosed the address for the removal of petroleum products.

The Krasnodar Krai operational headquarters reported today that as of the morning of May 8, 20,810 cubic meters of contaminated soil and water-oil mixture had been collected and removed from Tuapse, assuring that work was continuing "around the clock." Officials did not disclose the location where the contaminated soil was being removed.

A regional emergency regime is in effect throughout the Tuapse District. For information on emergency assessment criteria, response levels, structures, and resources for eliminating the consequences, please see the Caucasian Knot document "Emergency Situation Regime (ES)".

Materials on the consequences of the fuel oil spill have been collected by the Caucasian Knot on the page "Eco-disaster in Kuban".
