Power engineers reported the complete restoration of power supply in Makhachkala.

Power has been restored to all consumers in Makhachkala, where more than 90,000 residents were left without power due to a substation fire, according to the company Dageenergo.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," on the evening of May 7, a short circuit and fire occurred at the Novaya substation in Makhachkala. Due to the incident, nearly 26,000 homes with a population of over 90,500 people were left without power.

Power workers restored power within three hours to all Makhachkala consumers whose homes were in the outage zone due to the accident at the 110 kV Novaya substation.

"Currently, all consumers are receiving electricity," the press service of Rosseti North Caucasus reported on its official Telegram channel.

Residents of Dagestan regularly complain of extended power outages. A new round of power supply problems in Makhachkala in early April occurred amid massive flooding.

Unresolved problems in the housing and utilities sector are a factor in the growth of protest activity in Dagestan, Sergei Bachurin, head of the North Caucasus Federal District Ministry of Internal Affairs, stated on January 19. Makhachkala residents agreed with his opinion. "Problems with water, electricity, heating, and tariffs are not just household inconveniences, but a trigger for increased social tension, which leads to increased protest activity," said Rasul Asad, the author of the Telegram channel "Ask Rasul."
