Damage to graves of SVO participants in Kuban led to a criminal case.

A criminal case has been opened in Krasnodar for the desecration of 14 graves belonging to participants in a special military operation.

As reported by Caucasian Knot, by May 4, at least 842 fighters from Krasnodar Krai had been officially recognized as killed. By April 26, government and security officials had officially recognized at least 9,050 fighters from southern Russia as killed in the military operation: 4,460 from the North Caucasus Federal District and 4,590 from the Southern Federal District.

"Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation. The list was compiled based on data officially released by government officials and law enforcement agencies, according to a "Caucasian Knot" report, "NVO Statistics: Losses Are Growing for Southern Russia."

The Investigative Department for the Prikubansky District of Krasnodar has opened a criminal case regarding the desecration of military graves, , the press service of the Investigative Committee for Krasnodar Krai reported today on its Telegram channel.

According to investigators, on the night of May 1, 2026, unknown individuals, while at a cemetery in the village of Kopansky in the regional center, damaged 14 graves of participants in the special military operation. They broke 13 glass frames containing photographs on tombstones, removed a photograph from one of the tombstones, and damaged a wooden cross.

"The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation is conducting the necessary investigative actions aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident, as well as the identity of the individuals who committed the illegal acts," the agency said in a statement.

The Oleg Kharchenko Fighters of the Invisible Front Foundation clarified on its Telegram channel that the damaged tombstones are in Row 17 of the Kopanskoye Cemetery. Temporary photographs have now been installed there, and all damage has been promised to be repaired by May 9.
