The attacker stabbed the traumatologist and surgeon on duty and was detained. He was arrested for two months. The traumatologist's condition was assessed as moderately severe, and the surgeon underwent surgery and was transferred to the intensive care unit. The incident is being investigated as attempted murder. According to investigators, the man attacked the doctors "due to sudden hostility."
The Muftiate refused to reconcile the parties in connection with the attack on doctors in Makhachkala. Security forces placed the maternity hospital under guard. Just a few days after the patient's death, the hospital's chief physician was fired. An obstetrician at a perinatal center was charged with "causing death by negligence due to improper performance of professional duties." The case was sent to court in November 2019. In Khasavyurt in 2017, five doctors appeared in court on charges related to the death of a woman in labor in January 2016. Her relatives, in protest, threw stones at the maternity hospital.
