The court sentenced four residents of Rostov-on-Don to terms ranging from 13 to 20 years, finding them guilty of setting fire to two transformer substations and attempting to set fire to a main oil pipeline.

The Southern District Military Court sentenced four defendants for arson attacks on transformer substations in the Rostov Region, Kommersant reported on April 21.
According to case materials, in late 2023 - early 2024, Grigor Muradyan, after corresponding with an unknown individual, agreed to set fire to energy infrastructure facilities in Rostov-on-Don for a fee. He recruited Eldar Karmeyev and Ivan Oancea to help. In late 2023, they prepared a homemade incendiary mixture and set fire to a transformer substation.
In January 2024, they planned to set fire to the control center of a main oil pipeline junction, but were unable to do so due to armed guards. A few days later, Muradyan and Rafael Kirakosyan set fire to another transformer substation.
The court found all defendants guilty of committing and attempting to commit terrorist acts. Muradyan was sentenced to 20 years in prison (including his previous sentence), Karmeyev to 15 years, and Kirakosyan and Oanceu to 13 years. They will serve the first five years of their sentence in prison, and the remainder in a maximum-security penal colony.
