The Central Election Commission of Armenia has accepted documents from more than 20 political parties and alliances that have expressed their desire to participate in the parliamentary elections on June 7. Registration of electoral lists will begin on April 23.

As "Caucasian Knot" reported, on April 16, more than a dozen supporters of Samvel Karapetyan's Strong Armenia party were detained on charges of giving and receiving election bribes in the city of Artashat, and the next day, police detained 17 of Karapetyan's supporters at a rally near the Anti-Corruption Court in Yerevan. Also on April 17, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated in parliament that the Strong Armenia party and the Armenia bloc should not overcome the electoral threshold for the parliamentary elections.

The "Caucasian Knot" has prepared a report "2026 Elections to the National Assembly (Parliament) of Armenia". According to analysts, the parties of Samvel Karapetyan, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and former President Robert Kocharyan will be key competitors in the elections.

The Central Electoral Commission of Armenia has accepted applications from more than 20 parties and associations to participate in the parliamentary elections since April 13. The application process will last until 6:00 PM on April 23. Registration of political party and bloc electoral lists will be conducted from April 23 to May 3, and the election campaigning period will begin on May 8 and last through June 5, the press service of the Central Election Commission of Armenia told the Caucasian Knot.

Documents for participation in the elections were submitted, in particular, by the ruling Civil Contract party, the Prosperous Armenia party, and the Strong Armenia with Samvel Karapetyan bloc, which includes the New Era, United Armenians, and Strong Armenia parties.

Incumbent Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has been nominated as the Civil Contract party's candidate for prime minister. Gagik Tsarukyan leads the Prosperous Armenia party's list of parliamentary candidates, while Robert Kocharyan leads the Armenia bloc's list. "Strong Armenia with Samvel Karapetyan" has nominated Samvel Karapetyan as its candidate for Prime Minister of Armenia. His son, Narek Karapetyan, is number one on the party's electoral list.

The most pro-Russian parties in the Armenian parliamentary elections are Samvel Karapetyan's "Strong Armenia," Robert Kocharyan's "Armenia," and Gagik Tsarukyan's "Prosperous Armenia." The Kremlin is counting on Karapetyan, but he cannot legally participate in the elections, Armenian political scientists have pointed out.
