At least 60 houses damaged in Tuapse after drone attack
During the drone attack in Tuapse, 60 residential buildings and three public facilities were damaged. Five private homes were completely destroyed.
As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," two people were killed and seven others injured in Tuapse as a result of a drone attack on the night of April 16. Authorities initially reported that the dead were children aged five and 14; later in the day, the governor of Kuban clarified that a 14-year-old girl and an adult had died. Tuapse residents reported that after the attack, "the entire sky was in smoke," and the smell of burning was felt throughout the city throughout the day.
By the evening of April 16, Tuapse authorities counted 60 residential buildings damaged as a result of the overnight drone attack. Among them, 52 private homes and eight apartment buildings were completely destroyed, five private homes were completely destroyed, and four families were placed in a hotel, according to city mayor Sergei Boyko.
The official noted that in addition to residential buildings, three socially significant facilities were damaged in Tuapse. A temporary accommodation center remains open at School No. 6. According to Boyko, 285 people and 71 pieces of equipment are involved in the cleanup efforts.
The Kuban operational headquarters reported that "technological equipment in the port" caught fire as a result of the overnight attack. Firefighting efforts at the marine terminal continued throughout the day with the help of 157 firefighters.
According to other sources, the Tuapse Oil Refinery is on fire; local residents reported a "specific odor" in the evening, and people living near the oil depot were evacuated to a school, according to "Ostorozhno Novosti."
The body of a 14-year-old girl, whom authorities declared dead, is still being searched for under the rubble of a house almost 24 hours later, the Telegram channel "Baza" reported today.
"A mother and child were in the house at the time of the impact. The woman managed to escape, while the girl remained inside. She has been officially reported dead, but rescuers and volunteers are continuing to clear the destroyed structures," the publication stated.
Emergency Ministry personnel and volunteers from Tuapse are clearing the rubble. "According to locals, the sofa the girl was sleeping on was found 30 meters from the explosion site," writes the SHOT Telegram channel.
