Andrey Barannik, a serviceman from the Zhirnovsky District born in 1985, was killed in the military operation, the district administration reported on its Telegram channel on April 13. Details of the fighter's biography and death are not provided in the publication.
Thus, at least 1,753 fighters from the Volgograd region have been officially recognized as killed in the military operation.
The death of a fighter from the Zhirnovsky district was previously reported on March 27. Then the authorities reported that Yevgeny Kosyanenko had been killed in the military operation.
The "Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus Federal District and the Southern Federal District killed in the military operation. The list was compiled based on data officially released by government officials and security agencies, according to the Caucasian Knot report "Northern Military District Statistics: Casualties Mounting in Southern Russia."
State awards, memorial plaques, and appearances on Channel One do not guarantee state support for the families of those killed, according to the Caucasian Knot report "Three Comrades Served: How Authorities Are Denying Benefits to Families of Killed Volunteers," which describes the stories of the slain soldiers.
