Former judge of the Krasnodar Regional Court, Yuri Zakharchevsky, convicted of hitting a pedestrian, never paid compensation for his death, as he signed a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense back in 2024, left for the SVO zone, and stopped communicating.
As reported by the "Caucasian Knot", on December 18, 2024, it became known that former judge of the Krasnodar Regional Court, Yuri Zakharchevsky, sentenced to six years in prison for hitting a pedestrian with a fatal car, filed a complaint to the Supreme Court of Russia.
Yuri Zakharchevsky has still not been able to recover money in the case of Danil Yukhanov's death, despite the verdict having entered into force, Kommersant reported on April 11, citing Alexei Ivanov, the lawyer for the deceased's family.
According to the lawyer, enforcement proceedings have been suspended because bailiffs are unable to locate Zakharchevsky. In October 2024, he signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense and went to the SVO zone. A month later, Mikhail Kudrenko, the lawyer for the former judge, stated that contact with him had been lost. The lawyer clarified at the time that Zakharchevsky was not being declared missing because he was alive, but that he could not be contacted because he was on the front lines.
Alexei Ivanov stated that all the appeals and complaints filed over a long period of time had not led to the actual enforcement of the court's decision. Moreover, the total amount of the recovery exceeded 17 million rubles, including 8 million rubles in compensation for moral damages.
The Supreme Court, to which Zakharchevsky appealed, had previously upheld the verdict.
