The oil spill is moving towards Anapa.

An oil slick moving toward Anapa was discovered 11 kilometers from the coast and treated with a sorbent. Authorities linked the slick, which contaminated dozens of birds, to drone attacks.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot," more than a hundred birds covered in oil were admitted to the rehabilitation center on Zhemchuzhnaya in one day, and more birds are being brought to the center from Anapa's beaches. There was no official information about the spill, but such a number of injured birds indicates a serious problem, volunteers and bloggers commented.

An oil spill was discovered in the Black Sea 11 km off the coast of Anapa, the Krasnodar Krai task force reported.

"The rainbow film was treated with a biosorbent, using 45 kg of material. Oil booms were also installed. Under the influence of the wind, the spill is moving from the open sea towards the Anapa-Vityazevo coastal strip," the task force reported.

The report also provided probable causes for both the spill itself and the large number of birds contaminated by it.

"According to experts, one of the most likely causes of the oil spill is the consequences of the UAV attacks that occurred in recent years. For several days, the oil spill affected civilian vessels in the Black and Azov Seas, as well as coastal infrastructure. Damage to the civilian ships could have resulted in a small amount of oil spilled into the sea. It was the light fraction that formed a rainbow-colored film, which is what covered the birds during the storm."

Blogger Yuri Ozarovsky published a video on his Telegram channel showing the approximate scale of the slick—several kilometers between the ships at sea.

"Approximately 6-7 vessels are involved. According to eyewitnesses, oil skimmers are among them. Booms are visible—likely used to contain the pollution," he commented.

As a reminder, on December 15, 2024, two tankers carrying fuel oil sank in the Kerch Strait. A crew member of one of the tankers died as a result. In addition, an oil spill occurred, leading to catastrophic environmental consequences, according to the Caucasian Knot report "Fuel Oil Spill in the Kerch Strait".

Materials on the consequences of the fuel oil spill have been collected by the Caucasian Knot on the page "Eco-disaster in Kuban".
