A fighter from North Ossetia was killed in a military operation.

Zaurbek Khestanov was killed in combat. Since the beginning of the military operation, at least 582 fighters from North Ossetia have been officially recognized as killed.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," by April 3, the number of fighters from North Ossetia killed in the North Ossetian Military District (NVO) reached 581.

Ardon native Zaurbek Khestanov was killed in a military operation in Ukraine, the Ardon district administration reported today on its Telegram channel.

Thus, North Ossetia's officially recognized losses on the Ukrainian front now total at least 582. The "Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation. The list was compiled based on data officially released by government officials and law enforcement agencies, according to the Caucasian Knot report "NVO Statistics: Losses Mount for Southern Russia."

On March 29, the Ardon District administration reported that Alexei Almakov was killed in the combat zone in Ukraine.

State awards, memorial plaques, and appearances on Channel One do not guarantee state support for the families of those killed, according to the Caucasian Knot report "Three Comrades Served: How Authorities Are Depriving Families of Killed Volunteers of Benefits," which describes the stories of fighters from other regions. In particular, the widow of one of the killed soldiers said that without a body, the battalion did not make any payments in connection with the death of the soldier.
