As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," the Dagestan government allocated 100 million rubles in payments to flood victims. In Makhachkala, victims received 82,900 requests for one-time assistance, more than 10,000 claims for compensation for property loss, and 297 claims for damage to health.

In the North Caucasus, floods caused by torrential rains have been ongoing since the end of March, and they have become some of the most destructive in recent years. More than 6,200 people were affected by the flooding in Dagestan, the head of the republic, Sergey Melikov, announced on April 7.

The families of those killed in the flooding in Dagestan received financial assistance totaling 1 million rubles. The payments were made from the republic's "All Together" fund, according to Sergei Melikov's Telegram channel.

As a reminder, six people died as a result of the flooding in Dagestan. Five of them died in and around the village of Mamedkala in the Derbent District: a pregnant 17-year-old local resident, a 12-year-old child, a five-year-old girl and her grandmother, as well as 70-year-old Aminat Musayeva, who had been missing for three days. Earlier, on April 5, in the village of Kirki in the Kaytag District, Kistaman Mazanova, a local village council member and a resident of a house destroyed by a landslide, died.

Demolition of illegal structures in the riverbed of an overflowing river

The Dagestan Regional Control Center reported on its Telegram channel that the Tarnairka River in Makhachkala was cleared and illegal structures obstructing the flow of floodwaters were dismantled. "Cleaning of the Tarnairka Riverbed has been completed in Makhachkala's Kirovsky District. As a reminder, the river overflowed its banks earlier due to heavy rainfall, leading to flooding. To prevent a repeat of the emergency, authorities organized clearing of the riverbed and dismantling of illegal structures obstructing the flow of floodwater," the statement reads.

The work was carried out between 1-ya Vlazhnaya and 1-ya Istochnaya Streets. "Unauthorized structures within the riverbed are currently being demolished, and other potential obstructions to water flow are being monitored," the statement added.
