A resident of Kabardino-Balkaria is suspected of inciting hatred.

The Investigative Committee of Kabardino-Balkaria has opened a criminal case against a local resident. The case was opened based on an online publication deemed by investigators to constitute incitement to hatred or hostility.

According to investigators, the suspect posted a message on a messenger channel in November 2024 containing statements inciting hatred and hostility toward a group of individuals based on ethnicity.

The case will be investigated under the article "incitement to hatred or hostility, as well as humiliation of human dignity," , the press service of the regional Investigative Committee reported today on its Telegram channel.

The suspect's actions were identified by officers of the FSB Directorate for Kabardino-Balkaria. Investigative actions aimed at collecting and consolidating the evidence base are currently underway, the law enforcement agency added.

The investigation did not specify the type of publication in question or which messaging app it was posted on. The agency also did not specify the suspect's preventive measure.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that a court in Nalchik fined Balkar activist Khadis Tetuyev 10,000 rubles, finding his publications about Circassians incitement of hatred and hostility based on ethnicity.
