Light-duty traffic has resumed on the Caucasus Highway in Dagestan.

Traffic on a section of the Kavkaz Federal Highway in the Derbent District of Dagestan, interrupted due to rising water levels, has resumed, but the road is only open to passenger vehicles. In the Kaitag District, a landslide blocked access to the federal highway for residents of several villages; only a detour is available.
As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," a state of emergency has been declared in 12 municipalities of Dagestan due to flooding. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as of April 4, more than 1,000 residential buildings and 1,100 garden plots remained flooded. By the evening of April 5, it became known that traffic was closed at kilometer 917 of the Kavkaz Federal Highway in the Derbent District due to rising water levels and a bridge collapse.

It was noted that traffic near the village of Mamedkala had been resumed in both directions, but only for passenger vehicles.
Meanwhile, on the evening of April 5, Zapir Gasanov, head of the Kaytag District, reported on his Telegram channel that a landslide on the border with the Kayakent District had blocked the usual exit to the federal highway for residents of the villages of Yangikent, Tumenler, Novaya Barsha, Mallakent, Chumli, and Gulli. The only available route is a detour through the village of Madzhalis. Work is underway to clear the rubble.
Also, according to him, three intra-village bridges were damaged in Yangikent, but transport within the village remains open.
Meanwhile, Magomed Kurbanov, head of the Tabasaran district, reported on his Telegram channel today that work continues on the aftermath of the rockfall and landslides in the district. He also reported that inter-village gas pipelines were damaged, but at the time of publication, gas service had been restored to most villages. Initially, more than 20 villages were without gas, but gas was soon restored to all villages except Turaga and Maraga, where more than 200 and six homes, respectively, remain without gas.
On the evening of April 5, rocks blocked the road on the border of the Gergebil, Khunzakh, and Gunib districts of the republic. The section of the highway from the village of Gergebil to the Red Bridge is completely blocked, Shot reports.

Fundamental assistance of 15,600 rubles is available for each flood victim in Dagestan, the republic's authorities announced on March 31. Compensation has also been announced for those who have lost property, health, or loved ones. By April 2, the republic's authorities had received more than four thousand applications for compensation for damage caused by the flood.
