More than 3,000 homes in Chechnya were damaged by flooding.

More than 100 homes have been completely destroyed by flooding in Chechnya.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," 1,109 people were evacuated from the village of Kundukhovo in Gudermes and from the village of Braguny .

On March 28-29, the village of Kundukhovo in Gudermes was flooded, requiring the evacuation of residents. After evacuating the flood zone, residents of the village were accommodated with relatives, refusing to be sent to temporary accommodation centers. By the morning of March 30, 645 people (294 adults and 351 children) were evacuated from the village of Braguny in the Gudermes District, and another 504 people were evacuated from Gudermes and the village of Dzhalka.

According to operational data from the Chechen authorities, more than 3,000 homes were damaged by the flooding, more than 100 of which were completely destroyed. These figures were announced following a meeting on April 1 between Russian Construction Minister Irek Fayzullin and his Chechen government counterpart, Muslim Zaypullaev, Interfax reports.

In the Vedensky District alone, 219 homes were damaged, the Chechnya Today news agency reports, citing regional head Ramzan Kadyrov. According to Kadyrov, a total of 28 settlements in the republic were affected by the flooding.

At the end of March 2026, the North Caucasus experienced one of the most devastating floods in recent memory. Dagestan and Chechnya were hardest hit, according to the Caucasian Knot report "Spring Flooding in the North Caucasus - 2026." Flooding damaged homes, appliances, furniture, and cars. Makhachkala residents complained of problems with electricity and water supplies, transportation accessibility, and a lack of communication with emergency services.

As of March 30, 1,260 homes and courtyards remained flooded in Chechnya. 557 of these homes had been flooded.
