Islam Bammatov from Kizilyurt was killed in a military operation. Since its beginning, at least 1,867 fighters from Dagestan have been officially recognized as killed.
As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," by March 18, authorities and security forces had named at least 1,866 fighters from Dagestan killed in the combat zone in Ukraine.
Islam Bammatov was killed in the fighting near Kharkov; he leaves behind a wife and two children, the Dagestan regional branch of United Russia reported on its Telegram channel.
The report did not provide details about the soldier's biography or the circumstances of his death.
Previously, about the death of Kizilyurt native, Magomed Chekhov, became known in September 2025.
Thus, at least 1,867 fighters from Dagestan have been officially recognized as killed in the military operation.
The "Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation. The list was compiled based on data officially released by government officials and law enforcement agencies, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "NVO Statistics: Losses Mounting in Southern Russia."
State awards, memorial plaques, and appearances on Channel One do not guarantee state support for the families of those killed, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "Three Comrades Served: How Authorities Are Denying Benefits to Families of Killed Volunteers," which describes the stories of the slain soldiers.
