The head of the Kuban Ministry of Health has been detained in connection with illegal enrichment.

Krasnodar Krai Health Minister Yevgeny Filippov has been detained in a fraud case; his home and office have been searched.

Law enforcement agencies focused on Filippov, who has headed the Kuban Ministry of Health since 2013, due to his family's financial situation – numerous properties are registered to him and his relatives.

Filippov has been acquiring real estate and land since 2013, when he took over the ministry. He registered properties worth over 1 billion rubles in his own name and the names of his relatives, RIA Novosti reported, citing a source in the security forces.

The owners of expensive real estate in Krasnodar, Gelendzhik, Sochi, Krasnaya Polyana, and Sirius include, in addition to Filippov, his son, ex-wife, and her sister, as well as his common-law wife, Nadezhda Gubrieva, who heads the Krasnodar Krai Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund, and her relatives, in particular her son and mother, TASS reports, citing a source.

In total, Filippov and his entourage own 57 properties, including 21 apartments, 11 non-residential premises, nine land plots, seven apartments, four garages, three parking spaces, and two private homes. The land plots cover more than 6,700 square meters, the total residential area is more than 2,700 square meters, and the non-residential area is over 4,000 square meters.

The market value of the seven apartments owned by the minister's son is approximately 25 million rubles, while his official salary as a healthcare worker is 800,000 rubles per year. The mother of Filippov's partner owns a private house of over 880 square meters with a plot of 1,481 square meters; this property is valued at at least 300 million rubles. She also owns another plot of land of the same size, a house of 180 square meters, a commercial space, and several apartments in luxury residential complexes.

Nadezhda Gubrieva has headed the territorial Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund since 2016, and before that, she worked in the Ministry of Health of the Krasnodar Territory. Almost all of the relatives of the head of the Kuban Ministry of Health are also connected to medicine: the minister's son, 27-year-old Fyodor Filippov, works at an oncology clinic in Krasnodar, and his ex-wife, Olga Filippova, is an ultrasound doctor at a hospital in Sochi, notes Kuban journalist Andrei Koshik.

"The prosecutor's office is expected to file a lawsuit to seize corrupt assets," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

The criminal case is being investigated under the article on large-scale fraud using official position and budgetary funds (Part 4 of Article 159 of the Russian Criminal Code carries a sentence of up to ten years in prison).

Security forces today conducted searches of Filippov's office and home. About two months ago, in January, searches were conducted at the minister's workplace in connection with the case of former Vice Governor Anna Minkova, Kub Mash notes.

As "Caucasian Knot" reported, on January 27, security forces conducted an investigative action against former Deputy Governor of Kuban Anna Minkova. She was later detained on suspicion of committing corruption crimes. On January 29, the court placed Minkova under house arrest. In February, the Prosecutor General's Office filed a lawsuit to seize Minkova's property, worth more than 330 million rubles, for state benefit.
