A resident of Adygea was convicted for participating in the "United Circassia Council"*

The Southern District Military Court found Maykop resident Ibragim Nagoyev guilty of participating in a terrorist organization and sentenced him to 11 years in a maximum-security penal colony.

"Caucasian Knot" reported that a number of organizations with ties to southern Russia and the North Caucasus were added to the terrorist list on December 28, 2024, including the Free Circassia movement* (Great Circassia*, the Republic of Circassia*, and the Council of United Circassia*). The organizations listed as terrorists in southern Russia are primarily created and operate abroad and have little influence in Russia, but separatist ideas could be exploited by regional elites with the appropriate political agenda, analysts noted.

According to investigators, from January 11 to October 14, 2025, Nagoyev, while in Maikop, Adygea, participated in the activities of a structural unit of the banned terrorist organization "United Circassia Council"*. Nagoyev also administered the channel and distributed materials justifying and justifying the activities of the organization and its members, promoting "destructive" ideas, the press service of the Southern District Military Court reported today on its Telegram channel.
