Investigators are seeking those responsible for the death of a child on a swing in Nalchik.

A ten-year-old child died while riding on a swing in Nalchik's Orekhovaya Roshcha Park. The case is being investigated for causing death by negligence.

Investigative authorities announced the investigation into the child's death in Nalchik on March 10, although the incident, according to them, occurred on March 5.

"A child born in 2016, while riding on a swing with a peer at the playground in Orekhovaya Roshcha Park in Nalchik, fell under the swing. He sustained injuries from which he died in a medical facility," the republic's Investigative Committee reported.

The case is being investigated under the article on causing death by negligence (Part 1 of Article 109 of the Russian Criminal Code carries a sentence of up to two years' imprisonment or forced labor). The department did not specify whether there are any suspects, stating only that "all circumstances and causes of the incident will be established."

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that an elderly resident of Nalchik fell into an open manhole on Pushkin Street on the evening of March 5. The pensioner was hospitalized with injuries, including fractures. According to investigators, the manhole was covered with debris. A criminal case has been opened against employees of the Nalchik Vodokanal, whose responsibilities include monitoring the condition of manholes and the presence of covers on them.
