A Tbilisi court has set bail for those involved in the attack on Publika journalists.

The Tbilisi City Court set bail of 3,000 lari each for Saba Mindiashvili and Levan Zardiashvili, who are accused of attacking journalists from Publika last fall.

As reported by the Caucasian Knot, journalists and activists were beaten during a protest outside the Georgian Dream election headquarters in Tbilisi in the fall of 2025. Thus, Alexander Keshelashvili and Keto Mikadze from Publika were beaten, and both had their phones confiscated by the attackers who emerged from the headquarters. On March 6, those involved in the attack on the journalists were charged with obstructing journalistic activity.

The Tbilisi City Court set bail of 3,000 lari ($1,100) for those involved in the attack on Publika journalists in the fall of 2025, Novosti-Gruzia reported on March 7.

At the hearing, it was revealed that one of the defendants, 26-year-old Saba Mindiashvili, had a previous conviction and was serving a suspended sentence at the time of the new crime. The second defendant, 39-year-old Levan Zardiashvili, claimed to be an employee of a Tbilisi district administration.

If found guilty, Mindiashvili and Zardiashvili face a maximum sentence of six to two years of house arrest.

Protesters in Georgia have been demanding new parliamentary elections and the release of political prisoners since November 28, 2024. Security forces violently dispersed the protests, using tear gas and water cannons, and detained protesters. Over 1,000 people were subjected to administrative prosecution during the protests.
