Umar Dzhabrailov is buried in Chechnya.

Businessman and former Russian presidential candidate Umar Dzhabrailov was buried on March 3 in his native village of Novye Atagi in the Shali District of Chechnya.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," on the night of March 2, Dzhabrailov was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head, where he died. According to sources, the businessman committed suicide. The daughter of the late Alvin Dzhabrailov stated that her father could not have committed suicide. She believes he was murdered because of his friendship with American businessman Jeffrey Epstein.

Umar Dzhabrailov was a senator from Chechnya from 2004 to 2009. In 2017, he was detained after a shooting at a Moscow hotel and charged with hooliganism with the use of a weapon. Dzhabrailov admitted firing a pistol, blaming the incident on concussions he sustained in the war. Moscow's Tverskoy Court fined him 500,000 rubles. In July 2018, Dzhabrailov was expelled from United Russia.

His family, relatives, and fellow villagers gathered to bid farewell to him. They described the deceased to journalists as a compassionate man who had once helped his fellow villagers a lot, TASS reported today.

Umar Dzhabrailov had previously been treated for drug addiction, but had not recently used drugs, the agency clarified, citing his former lawyer, Alexander Karabanov.

Dzhabrailov was buried according to Muslim rites: the necessary rituals were performed over the deceased, after which he was carried out on a stretcher, performing the dhikr rite. The businessman's body was carried to the cemetery by relatives, who then buried him.

Hundreds of people attended Umar Dzhabrailov's funeral. There is no information on whether representatives of the republic's leadership attended the ceremony, Fortanga reports.

The businessman was found with a gunshot wound to the head in the Vesper Tverskaya residential complex in Moscow. A Luger pistol was found next to him. Dzhabrailov had previously attempted suicide in 2020, but was saved, Kommersant reported.
