More than a hundred people have been evacuated from Iran to Azerbaijan.

Due to fighting in Iran, 53 Azerbaijani citizens and several dozen foreigners, including employees of the diplomatic missions of Saudi Arabia and the UAE, were evacuated across the Iranian-Azerbaijani border.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," by 00:00 Moscow time on March 1, 12 Azerbaijani citizens, including three minors, were evacuated from Iran. An Italian citizen also arrived in Azerbaijan through the border crossing.

Due to fighting in Iran, bus routes through that country between Baku and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic have been suspended. The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has recommended that citizens refrain from visitingIran and Israel.

From 08:00 [07:00 Moscow time] on February 28 to 14:00 [13:00 Moscow time] on March 1, 90 people were evacuated from Iran to Azerbaijan through the Astara checkpoint, APA reports.

Among them, 53 citizens of Azerbaijan and 37 foreign citizens: one citizen of Italy, five citizens of Tajikistan, three citizens of Qatar, four citizens of Jordan, six citizens of the United Arab Emirates, and 18 diplomats of Saudi Arabia, the publication says.

In addition, "about ten" citizens of China, four citizens of Poland, three citizens of Bangladesh, one citizen of Pakistan, and four more citizens were evacuated from Iran to Azerbaijan through the Astara checkpoint. Qatar, Report informs.

"The Azerbaijani side provided them with the necessary conditions for crossing the border. The evacuation of six employees of the United Arab Emirates Embassy in Iran is currently ongoing," the agency reported at 1:58 p.m. Moscow time.

As a reminder, one Azerbaijani citizen was injured as a result of US and Israeli strikes on Iran. His life is not in danger, the Foreign Ministry announced today.

On February 28, Israel and the US launched strikes on Iran. Donald Trump announced the start of a large-scale military operation, accusing Iran of an "endless campaign of bloodshed and massacre" directed against the US and its allies. In retaliation, Iran launched strikes against US military targets in the Middle East – in Bahrain, the UAE, Kuwait, and Qatar.
