A suspect in the attack on Kakalia has been arrested.
A court in Sukhum has remanded in custody Alkhas Gurguliya, one of the suspects in the attack on opposition activist Eshsou Kakalia. The victim was diagnosed with fractures, two gunshot wounds, and other injuries.
As reported by the "Caucasian Knot", on February 22, one of the three suspects in the assassination attempt on Eshsou Kakalia, member of the Public Chamber of Abkhazia Alkhas Gurgulia, was detained.
On February 21, Eshsou Kakalia, member of the Supreme Council of the opposition public organization "Aidgylara", received a gunshot wound and was hospitalized.
The Sukhumi City Court chose a preventive measure in the form of arrest for one month for Alkhas Gurgulia, suspected of causing grievous bodily harm to the former Deputy Prosecutor General of Abkhazia, Deputy The chairman of the Aidgylara organization, Eshsou Kakalia, was arrested, TASS reported late in the evening of February 27, citing the prosecutor's office.
The decision to arrest him was made on February 27, and Gurgulia has been remanded in custody until March 21, the Sukhum City Court announced on its website.
The petition for Gurgulia's pretrial detention was filed with the court on February 24, but the suspect's lawyer, Asida Archelia, convinced the court to extend her client's detention.
Also a suspect in the case is Eshba Aslan Ruslanovich, according to the court's publication.

According to investigators, on February 21, three people entered a booth at the Apsny café where patrons were located. "During a conflict with one of the visitors, namely Eshsou Ivanovich Kakalia, a group of individuals inflicted bodily injuries on the latter's head. One of the unidentified individuals, using an illegally acquired, stored, and carried pistol of an unknown model and caliber, fired at least two shots into E.I. Kakalia's lower extremities," the investigative report states.
The victim was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury, a concussion, facial fractures, and gunshot wounds to the thigh and lower leg, the court reported.
As a reminder, on February 22, the opposition stated that the assassination attempt on Kakalia was prompted by criticism of the head of the presidential administration, Beslan Eshba. They demanded his resignation and a fair investigation, and announced a rally. On February 23, at a gathering, opposition members accused Beslan Eshba of exacerbating political tensions in Abkhazia and called on him to resign.
Eshsou Kakalia was the head of the coordination headquarters for resolving the political crisis during the period when protesters were seeking the resignation of President Aslan Bzhania.
