A native of Dagestan received a prison sentence for spreading fake news about the Russian army.

A court in Makhachkala sentenced a native of Dagestan to five years in prison, finding her guilty of publicly disseminating false information about the actions of the Russian Armed Forces.

According to investigators and the court, in 2022, the woman, while abroad, posted fake information about the Russian army on social media, including platforms banned in Russia, claiming it was accurate. In addition, the case involves the artificial creation of evidence.

The woman was found guilty of publicly disseminating knowingly false information about the use of the Russian Armed Forces, committed with the artificial creation of evidence , the press service of the Investigative Committee of Dagestan reported today on its Telegram channel.

"The court sentenced her to five years' imprisonment in a general regime penal colony," the agency said in a statement.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that at the end of 2025, the Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Dagestani blogger Arslan Mirzaev (Ali Charinsky) to eight years in prison, finding him guilty of spreading "fakes" about the Russian army and calling for terrorism.
