An Italian skier died in the Georgian mountains.

In the mountains near Kutaisi, Italian skier Pietro Ballarini, the son of renowned urbanist Luca Ballarini, died while freeriding.

His father, renowned Italian designer and urbanist Luca Ballarini, announced his son's death on social media.

According to him, his son was in Georgia with friends; the accident occurred while they were skiing off-piste, Novosti-Gruzia reported on February 21.

According to the Italian publication La Repubblica, the deceased's mother, Alessandra Paracchi, who is also the ex-wife Luca Ballarini went to Georgia. She is working on the return of her son's body with the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Italian Embassy in Tbilisi.

Ballarini Jr. traveled to Georgia with three friends; they were vacationing at a ski resort near Kutaisi. According to the publication, this place is highly prized by winter extreme sports enthusiasts.
