A Sochi resident was convicted of participating in a terrorist organization.

A court sentenced Sochi resident Frederic Du Bois to 11 years in prison, finding him guilty of participating in a terrorist organization.

The sentence for Frederic Du Bois, found guilty of participating in a terrorist organization (Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), was handed down by the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don.

According to investigators, Du Bois joined the Kuban independence movement, which was designated as terrorist in November 2024. The court sentenced him to 11 years in a maximum-security penal colony, Mediazona reported on February 20*.

The case file on the court's website indicates that the case of Frederic Norman Marselevich Du Bois (aka Valery Valerievich Kuzemka) was submitted for consideration in September 2025. The verdict was handed down on February 19.

Earlier, in August 2023, Du Bois was issued two administrative fines for displaying extremist symbols (Part 1 of Article 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). The Khostinsky District Court of Sochi fined him one thousand rubles. Two weeks later, the Sochi Central Court arrested Du Bois for seven days for posting photos of the white-blue-white flag on social media, OVD-Info reports.

Previously, "Caucasian Knot" reported that in February 2025, a Volgograd court fined local resident Ivan E. one thousand rubles for having a white-blue-white flag painted on his car's license plate.
