The case of a 91-year-old pensioner from the village of Dinskaya, accused of indecent assault, was submitted to the court on November 7 of last year. Hearings in the case were postponed four times, this time to April 20. Relatives are declining to comment to avoid attracting further attention.
As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," in October, investigators charged a 90-year-old pensioner from the village of Dinskaya with indecent assault, after teenagers vacationing on the beach testified against him. During the identification parade, the teenagers "quickly and, looking at the floor, in the presence of their mothers and a psychologist, rattled off memorized and identical phrases," the lawyer reported. He is convinced that no indecent assault took place, and the pensioner himself also denied the charges. In early November of last year, the pensioner's case was sent to court.
On February 17, the court again postponed the hearing of the criminal case against the 91-year-old pensioner from the village of Dinskaya. Since the case was filed with the court in November 2025, its merits will not be heard.
A "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed in court that the next hearing has been postponed until April 20. "The elderly defendant failed to appear in court," reported a representative of the criminal cases office.
After the case was filed with the court, the first hearing was scheduled for November 7, 2025. According to information from the court's records, it was postponed due to the defendant's failure to appear due to illness. The next hearing, scheduled for December 30, 2025, did not take place due to the absence of the victim. On January 30, 2026, the hearing was postponed again due to the illness of other trial participants.
Earlier, at the request of the investigators, the court ordered an inpatient psychiatric evaluation for the defendant. According to his former defense attorney, Alexei Avanesyan, an examination revealed no sexual dysfunction in the elderly man.
Lawyer Alexei Avanesyan died at the end of November last year at the age of 48. According to his colleague, Yulia Fedotova, the cause of death was an aneurysm.
Avanesyan's colleague, Kondrat Gorishniy, told a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the pensioner's relatives had retained a state-appointed defense attorney.
The elderly man's relatives declined to comment on his health, defense strategy, or the prospects of his case. According to a close relative, the family does not believe it is necessary to attract additional media attention at this time.
Elena Osokina, a lawyer independent of the case, noted in a comment to a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that refusing to comment publicly does not in itself affect the qualifications of the charges and does not change the procedural status of the case. According to her, reducing publicity can be seen as a defense tactic: the lack of publicity reduces the media pressure on the parties to the case. Moreover, possible developments depend on the defendant's position and medical reports.
In particular, if guilty is found, the case may be tried under a special procedure, in which the punishment does not exceed two-thirds of the maximum sentence. Furthermore, taking into account the defendant's age and health, the court has the right to consider medical circumstances when sentencing or deciding whether a defendant can participate in the trial.
At the same time, Osokina added, dismissal of a case due to health reasons is only possible if there are appropriate medical grounds and does not automatically exempt the defendant from criminal liability." "According to Article 49 of the Russian Constitution, an accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a final court verdict," the lawyer reminded.
