A truck driver from Azerbaijan has been accused of espionage in Dagestan.

The Dagestan Prosecutor's Office has approved the indictment in a criminal case against an Azerbaijani citizen. He is accused of espionage for Ukraine.

According to investigators, in July 2025, the accused, while driving a Volvo truck, established a confidential relationship with a representative of a foreign intelligence service, the Security Service of Ukraine.

"He was tasked, in exchange for monetary compensation, with collecting and storing information that could be used against the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation for subsequent transfer to the enemy," the press service of the Dagestan Prosecutor's Office reported today on its Telegram channel.

For these purposes, he retrieved items from a specially equipped hiding place, which he concealed in the truck for subsequent transportation from Russia to the enemy in Baku.

After passing through the customs and border control zone, the items hidden in the truck, previously retrieved from the hiding place, were discovered by law enforcement officers.

A citizen of Azerbaijan Accused of espionage . The criminal case has been sent to the Supreme Court of Dagestan for consideration on the merits, the agency clarified.

The Dagestan Prosecutor's Office is not releasing the name of the accused Azerbaijani citizen, nor is it known what items he removed from the hiding place and attempted to smuggle into Azerbaijan.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that security forces detained a resident of Kaspiysk in connection with a case involving the collection of funds for a cryptocurrency wallet to purchase weapons for illegal armed groups; the court has remanded him in custody.
