Protests in Georgia have continued for 445 consecutive days.
Activists gathered outside the Georgian Parliament on the 445th day of daily pro-European protests.
As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," the demands of the participants in the weekly march to the Georgian Parliament on the 444th day of daily protests were supported by students protesting against education reforms and by protesters at the Iranian Embassy.
Today, a daily protest is taking place outside the Georgian Parliament. This marks the 445th day that supporters of European integration have taken to Rustaveli Avenue in central Tbilisi to demand new parliamentary elections and the release of political prisoners.
As photos published by Publika show, activists have gathered on the sidewalk outside the Parliament. They are holding Georgian flags in their hands.
Before the protest, a meeting against education reform was held at Ilya University.
Ilia State University Rector Nino Doborjinidze, speaking at an event dedicated to the university's 20th anniversary, said that Georgian Dream, through the "one city - one faculty" principle, had cut off 92% of the university's programs.
"We cannot agree with this; we have stated this repeatedly. We will continue to fight for this at all levels - be it through debate, a robust academic process, or the legal path. We have appealed to the [Ministry of Education] and the Prime Minister to meet with an expanded group of our professors and listen to our arguments," InterPressNews quotes her as saying.
Protesters in Georgia have been demanding new parliamentary elections and the release of political prisoners since November 28, 2024. Security forces have violently dispersed the protests, using tear gas and water cannons, and have detained protesters. During the protests More than 1,000 people were subjected to administrative prosecution. The "Caucasian Knot" has prepared a report "Key Points on the Persecution of Protest Participants in Georgia".
