Speculation about the condition of Kadyrov's son after the accident was the result of the silence of the Chechen authorities.
Social media users found a video of Adam Kadyrov, which appeared on the Chechen leader's account almost a month after reports of the accident, strange. Speculation about the health of the third son of the head of Chechnya has arisen amid prolonged silence from the authorities, although residents of the republic have expressed indifference to the health of the head of the region's son.
As "Caucasian Knot" reported, Ramzan Kadyrov for the first time mentioned the traffic accident involving his third son, Adam, calling all media reports about the incident "fakes." On February 10, he published a short video of a "late dinner," showing his third son, Adam, for the first time in more than three weeks.
On January 16, sources reported that the motorcade of Ramzan Kadyrov's third son was involved in a traffic accident in Grozny, injuring Adam Kadyrov and those accompanying him. In the three weeks following the reports of the accident, Adam Kadyrov maintained relative activity on social media, but did not publish any new images of himself. The "Caucasian Knot" has prepared a report entitled "What is known about the classified incident involving Adam Kadyrov in Grozny".
The lack of official data has fueled speculation about Adam Kadyrov's health.
As early as January 16, the day of the alleged accident, differing versions emerged. Initially, sources reported that Adam Kadyrov was taken to the intensive care unit of the Republican Clinical Hospital in Grozny in serious condition, with the roads to the hospital blocked. According to these sources, other victims were also taken to the same hospital after the accident, but their exact number and the severity of their injuries were not specified.
The information about the accident involving Adam Kadyrov has not been officially confirmed. There are also no photos or videos online from the alleged accident site, despite reports of major traffic jams on the approaches to Grozny during daylight hours on January 16. The lack of official information has given rise to numerous theories about Adam Kadyrov's health.
All sources agreed that Adam Kadyrov was sent to Moscow for treatment. This information was based, in part, on recorded information about the direction of flights departing Grozny. However, discrepancies arose regarding both his condition and the information about other victims. Adam Kadyrov's injuries ranged from mild to severe.
It is worth noting that, despite the disappearances of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov from public view, reports of his illnesses, including serious ones, have regularly surfaced.
Until 2019, no information about any ailments of the Chechen leader had reached the media, even as rumors. However, in 2019 and the first half of 2020, he repeatedly went on sick leave. How the illnesses progressed, what Chechen officials and Kadyrov himself said about them, can be read in the "Caucasian Knot" report "Four sick leaves: how and when Kadyrov was ill." In February 2025, after a long absence from public view, the head of Chechnya stated that "European and American newspapers" were spreading rumors about his illness, and he was only on official leave; he was appointed to his post "for life," according to the biographical note about Ramzan Kadyrov.
In January 2026, Kadyrov declared himself healthy at least three times in three days.
It should be noted that Chechen media remained silent about the reasons for Adam Kadyrov's absence from public view or his health, but federal media and Telegram channels monitored information about him.
Residents of the republic said that federal media outlets were interested in information about the accident involving 18-year-old Adam Kadyrov and his health, while ordinary people in Chechnya were indifferent to these topics. They admitted that they were more concerned about power outages, low wages, and daily household problems.
Despite Adam Kadyrov's absence from public view, an attempt was made to create the appearance of his activity. Thus, videos recorded before the date of the alleged accident were published several times, the Chechen Security Council reported several times on meetings held on the instructions of Alam Kadyrov, and posts also appeared on his Instagram*.
Thus, Adam Kadyrov published On his Instagram* account, he posted a story featuring a monologue from the series "Game of Thrones" and music by Chechen bard Timur Mutsuraev. Posts featuring him on the accounts of Chechen officials and the stories of the third son of the head of Chechnya himself only highlighted the lack of up-to-date information about his condition and whereabouts.
On January 23, a video appeared on Adam Kadyrov's Instagram* in which he is practicing shooting; the abbreviation of the Russian University of Special Forces is visible in the frame. The date of the recording is not indicated, but Adam Kadyrov is wearing a T-shirt in the video. Another video of him firing an automatic rifle into the air was recorded during the warmer months.
Social media users found Adam Kadyrov's latest video strange
Some Facebook* users doubted that the video actually depicted Adam Kadyrov. A post about the video, published on the Chechen leader's account, received over 100 comments. Their authors, in particular, mentioned previously voiced versions that the third son of the head of Chechnya is in serious condition and therefore cannot be in the video.
"The 'dress-up games' are beginning," wrote Maksim Gubkin, in particular.
"Seriously? They couldn't have filmed a more believable video?" asked Klaus Mikaelson.
Some users, such as Pavel Shipilov, simply noted that "he looks kind of strange."
However, some users noted Adam Kadyrov's "extreme weight loss." "Where's the medal for weight loss?" asked Alexander Klimenko.
Ramzan Kadyrov's third son has begun receiving numerous awards and title in the fall of 2023, shortly after Nikita Zhuravel was beaten in a pre-trial detention center. On December 30, 2025, he received from his father the Akhmat Kadyrov Memorial Medal "For Contribution to Ensuring Security, Stability, and Prosperity of the Homeland." On August 25, 2025, he was presented with the "Defender of the Chechen Republic" medal during the tactical shooting championship, although he did not participate in the competition. Commenting on the award, Kadyrov Sr. stated that his son received all the awards for specific achievements.
Ramzan Kadyrov would like to see his third son, Adam, as his successor, but in reality, neither Adam nor the other sons of the head of Chechnya have guarantees from the Kremlin that allow them to claim power in the republic, href="https://www.kavkaz-uzel.eu/articles/420178">analysts previously interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" indicated. "The federal center did not give Ramzan any guarantees that power would fall to Adam. Therefore, a specific post, whether it be the post of Security Council Secretary, held by Adam Kadyrov, or the post of Deputy Prime Minister, held by Akhmat Kadyrov, does not offer any advantages to any of the potential successors. "In any case, the final say will be Putin's," political scientist Sergei Boyko reminded.
