A resident of Kabardino-Balkaria has been accused of rehabilitating Nazism.

A court in Kabardino-Balkaria will hear the case of a 24-year-old resident of the Zolsky District, charged with the rehabilitation of Nazism due to comments on a social network.

The Supreme Court of Kabardino-Balkaria will hear the criminal case. According to the prosecution, in October 2023, the young resident of the Zolsky District used a publicly accessible social media account and left a series of text comments.

Security officials viewed these comments as "justification of Nazi ideology" and "approval of the crimes established by the verdict of the International Military Tribunal for the Trial and Punishment of the Major War Criminals of the European Axis Powers," according to a statement from the republic's prosecutor's office today.

The article on the rehabilitation of Nazism (clause "b" of Part 2 of Article 354.1 of the Russian Criminal Code) carries a sentence of up to five years in prison or forced labor. Caucasian Knot has not yet received any comments from the accused or his lawyer regarding the prosecution's case.

As Caucasian Knot reported, in January 2025, it became known that security forces had interviewed Denis Girin, a Komsomol member from Tyrnyauz, who had purchased a military uniform of the Communists of the German Democratic Republic (GDR) on Avito. Security forces confiscated the uniform and sent it for examination. The reason for the interview was a report that Girin had attended a Komsomol meeting wearing a Nazi uniform. Boris Pashtov, head of the Kabardino-Balkarian branch of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, accused the authors of this publication of slander.
