A Krasnodar resident was sentenced for justifying terrorism.
A military court in Rostov-on-Don found a 19-year-old Krasnodar resident guilty of justifying terrorism online. The young man was sentenced to a prison term.
Comments the young man left in a messaging app prompted the criminal case. At the time of these publications in August 2023, the accused was still a minor.
Investigative materials for the case were collected by officers from the regional FSB department. According to the prosecution, the teenager, while at home in Krasnodar, left "comments justifying terrorism" in a group chat, the Investigative Committee of the Krasnodar Territory reported on its Telegram channel on February 9.
The case of public justification of terrorism on the internet was heard by the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don. The young man was found guilty and sentenced to two years and six months in prison. For two years after his release, he is prohibited from administering websites or other information and telecommunications networks.
The Investigative Committee's press service did not release the name of the convicted man. The Southern District Military Court's file contains a case file for the relevant article, the verdict for which was announced on January 29, but the defendant's name is redacted.
"Caucasian Knot" reported that in December 2025, the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Dagestani native Omar Ismailov to four years in prison, finding him guilty of promoting terrorism.
