As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," by February 7, authorities and security forces had named at least 1,804 fighters from Dagestan killed in the military operation in Ukraine.
Shakhrudin Kadiev, a participant in the military operation in Ukraine and a native of the village of Kalininaul, was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage, the administration of the Kazbekovsky District of Dagestan reported. A message on the district administration's Telegram channel on February 4 did not provide details of the fighter's biography or death.
Thus, at least 1,805 fighters from Dagestan have been officially recognized as killed in the military operation.
On December 29, 2025, district authorities reported that Mukhtar Guseinov was killed in the military operation zone.
"Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation. The list was compiled based on data officially released by government officials and security agencies, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "NVO Statistics: Losses Are Mounting for Southern Russia."
State awards, memorial plaques, and appearances on Channel One do not guarantee state support for the families of those killed, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "Three Comrades Served: How the Authorities Are Depriving the Families of Killed Volunteers of Benefits," which describes the stories of the slain soldiers. Financial assistance is especially important for families left without a breadwinner, but not everyone is able to receive it, according to relatives of the victims.
