Six drones were shot down over the Black Sea.
The Ministry of Defense reported six drones shot down overnight over the Black Sea. An air strike threat was issued overnight in Novorossiysk.
As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," on January 28, a drone attack in the Seversky District of Kuban damaged four private homes: two in the village of Svobodny and two in the village of Severskaya. There are no injuries, regional authorities reported.
Last night, air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 22 Ukrainian drones, including six over the Black Sea, the Ministry of Defense reports.
According to the ministry, the remaining drones were shot down in the Bryansk, Kaluga, and Kursk regions.
In Novorossiysk, the warning system sirens were activated last night due to a drone attack, the Kuban operational headquarters reported on its Telegram channel.
Novorossiysk Mayor Andrei Kravchenko reported the drone attack on his Telegram channel at 12:15 a.m. Moscow time. "A siren is sounding in Novorossiysk – the 'Attention everyone' signal. UAV attack. If you are at home, do not approach windows. Take shelter in a room with windows that do not face the sea or in windowless rooms with solid walls (hallway, bathroom, toilet, storage room). If you are outside, take shelter in the basement of the nearest building or in an underground passage (parking lot). Do not stay in open spaces near the sea," he wrote.
The mayor announced the cancellation of the signal at 1:11 a.m. Moscow time. "The UAV attack signal has been canceled. There is no danger to residents and visitors of Novorossiysk!" the publication stated. Addressing city residents, the official also reminded them of the ban on filming and publishing photos and videos of the attack on social media.
In September 2025, a ban was introduced in Krasnodar Krai on the dissemination of information about drone attacks and their consequences, as well as on filming air defense operations, military facilities, and critical infrastructure. In December 2025, Kuban authorities introduced fines for filming aerial attacks and air defense operations. A corresponding bill from the regional legislative assembly was published on the "Caucasian Knot."
As a reminder, on September 24, 2025, two people were killed and 14 injured after drone and unmanned boat attacks on Novorossiysk and Tuapse. That day, people in Novorossiysk, Tuapse, Gelendzhik, and Sochi were ordered to leave beaches due to the threat of drone attacks from the sea and air. However, in Sochi, some vacationers returned to the beach. Social media users called this behavior reckless.
Civilians in the coastal areas of Kuban resorts risk becoming accidental victims in attacks, so the evacuation of vacationers from the beaches was a justified measure, experts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" confirmed.
