The appellate court found no grounds for changing the sentence of former Volgograd City Duma deputies Yevgeny Shchur, Fedor Litvinenko, and Alexey Zverev.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," at the end of October last year, the court sentenced former Volgograd City Duma deputies Yevgeny Shchur and Fedor Litvinenko to 13 years in prison, and their colleague Alexey Zverev to 14 years.

The Volgograd Regional Court's appellate court reviewed the appeals of former Volgograd City Duma deputies Alexei Zverev, Yevgeny Shchur, and Fyodor Litvinenko, Vysota 102 reported on February 6.

The appeal hearing for the deputies' acquittal began in late 2025, but the hearings were postponed several times. The court upheld the first-instance verdict and dismissed the appeals.

As a reminder, the case of fraud involving fake traffic accidents against Volgograd City Duma deputies Yevgeny Shchur, Fyodor Litvinenko, and their former colleague Alexei Zverev was opened in December 2016. In March of that year, investigators reported that the investigation had been completed, with damages from the fraud amounting to 84 million rubles. Evgeny Shchur and Fyodor Litvinenko were given preventive measures, prohibiting certain activities; Alexey Zverev was briefly under travel restrictions, but in May 2021, this was replaced with a mandatory police report.
