Restrictions have been imposed at Volgograd Airport, and a drone alert has been issued in the region.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot," on the night of January 22, restrictions were imposed at Volgograd Airport, as well as in Magas, Vladikavkaz, and Grozny. Residents of Volgograd and Volzhsky reported a series of explosions.

Today, around 12:00 AM Moscow time, operations at Volgograd Airport were suspended, according to the "Rosaviatsiya Govorit" Telegram channel.

As usual, the restrictions were introduced to ensure flight safety.

Half an hour before Rosaviatsiya's decision, a drone alert was issued in the region, and residents were advised to avoid open streets and windows, according to v1.ru.

Discussions about renaming Volgograd Airport to "Stalingrad" have been active since the 1990s. However, the airport was renamed from "Gumrak" to "Stalingrad" only after Putin's intervention – on April 29, 2025, he declared his support for the initiative of veterans and participants of the Second World War, signing a decree on the renaming that same day. At the same time, some citizens spoke out sharply against the renaming, recalling that under Stalin, 250,000 Stalingrad residents were repressed.
