Investigators have dropped the rape case against Napso.

The Investigative Committee has closed its investigation into the rape case against former State Duma deputy Yuri Napso. The investigation found that the case was opened in violation of procedure, as Napso was a member of the electoral commission in the Rostov region at the time.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," at the end of May 2025, the court upheld the decision of State Duma deputies who voted to early strip Yuri Napso of his parliamentary powers. His representative claimed that Napso was stripped of his mandate due to an incorrect calculation of his absences from work. At the end of September, the Investigative Committee placed a former State Duma deputy on the federal wanted list in connection with a rape case. Napso denied the charges.

In early February, the Investigative Committee overturned its decision to open a criminal case for rape against former LDPR State Duma deputy Yuri Napso, according to a source familiar with the investigation. Yuri Napso himself also confirmed the revocation of the decision to open a case, according to RBC.

The ruling by the Main Investigative Department (GSU) of the Investigative Committee states that Napso was a voting member of the precinct election commission (PEC) of the Sovietsky District of Rostov-on-Don from August 22, 2025, to January 15, 2026. During this time, he was considered a person subject to special criminal procedure. Therefore, the investigator's decision to open a case is "unlawful and unfounded," as the case was initiated "by an inappropriate person in violation of the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code," the document states. The Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee has sent the materials that served as the basis for initiating the case for further review and a procedural decision, the agency writes.

As a reminder, in early October 2025, a court in Sochi transferred approximately 60 real estate properties to state ownership. owned by State Duma deputy Yuri Napso, who was stripped of his mandate for absenteeism. This includes shares in the authorized capitals of three companies: National Fuel Company LLC, Kubanoil LLC, and Sochipetrol LLC. The Krasnodar Regional Court upheld this decision.
