Three of the 10 children were later discharged. A heating appliance, improperly connected to a gas pipeline, was identified as the cause of the poisoning.
The remaining seven children, hospitalized after carbon monoxide poisoning, have now been discharged from the Karabudakhkent Central District Hospital, Interfax reported today, citing a source.
A criminal case has been opened under Article 238 of the Russian Criminal Code (provision of services that do not meet safety requirements). . According to preliminary data, the cause of the poisoning was a heating appliance (burner). According to the Ministry of Energy and Tariffs of Dagestan, the kindergarten building was illegally connected to the gas pipeline—there was no gas supply contract.
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Dagestan, as of 8:30 p.m. Moscow time on February 4, had not published any new information on the investigation.
