The Investigative Committee reported arrests following the theft of over 100 million rubles in Dagestan.

Theft during the execution of a state contract in Khasavyurt occurred with the participation of an official from the Ministry of Construction of Dagestan.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot," in December 2025, an investigation into the theft of more than 500 million rubles during the execution of a state defense contract in Dagestan was completed.

The Investigative Committee for Dagestan reported searches and the detention of defendants in cases involving the embezzlement of over 100 million rubles during the execution of a state contract for asphalt restoration in Khasavyurt. The suspects include the chief specialist of the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Public Utilities, representatives of the contractor, and officials of the Directorate for the Implementation of Infrastructure Programs, Interfax quoted the agency as saying.

According to investigators, during construction supervision of the reconstruction of the Khasavyurt sewer network, a ministry official provided false information about asphalt restoration, and the contractor, in agreement with directorate officials, issued fictitious acceptance certificates.

Cases of fraud, abuse of office, and official forgery were opened following publications reporting on the condition of roads in Khasavyurt, Kommersant reports.

As "Caucasian Knot" reported, in September 2025, heavy rains led to flooding of streets and substations. As a result, some residents in Makhachkala, Kaspiysk, Khasavyurt, and Izberbash were left without power. Social media users complained that the power had been out for two days. Authorities attributed the problems to chaotic construction.
