The Chechen Muslim Spiritual Directorate announced the deadline for submitting documents for the Hajj.
Those wishing to perform the Hajj in 2026 must submit documents by the end of January, the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Chechnya reported.
As "Caucasian Knot" reported, the quota for Chechnya for the pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia in 2024 was 3,000 people, and this year 3,500 pilgrims went on the Hajj from Chechnya. The latest group, which also included relatives and associates of Ramzan Kadyrov, flew to Saudi Arabia from Grozny airport on May 31. Pilgrims from Chechnya often try to save up for the Hajj trip themselves, but $5,600 is a significant sum, and relatives always try to help with money.
Hajj, the pilgrimage to the Muslim holy sites in Mecca, is one of the five pillars of Islam. Every Muslim who has reached adulthood and is able to do so is required to perform the Hajj at least once in their lifetime. The pilgrimage to Mecca typically occurs at the beginning of the 12th month of the Muslim lunar calendar and culminates with the Feast of the Sacrifice Eid al-Adha. In addition, there is the so-called "minor Hajj" – Umrah.
Anyone wishing to perform the Hajj in 2026 must submit documents by the end of January 2026, the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Chechnya reported.
"At the end of January 2026, Saudi Arabia will close the electronic platform for registering pilgrims, after which it will be impossible to obtain a visa or permit for the Hajj," the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Chechnya reported on its Telegram channel.
