19 Dagestani villages were left without transport links.
A mudflow has cut off 19 mountain villages in the Charodinsky District of Dagestan from transport links with the republic. The mudflow is still ongoing, so road clearing has not yet begun.
The mudflow occurred after rains at the eighth kilometer of the Tsurib-Archib local road near the village of Magar. Nineteen villages remain without road access.
"Vehicle traffic is temporarily closed. There is no bypass road. If necessary, access is possible on foot, as well as on motorcycles and horses," the Dagestan Ministry of Emergency Situations reported. One vehicle is on duty at the scene. Clearance work cannot begin due to the ongoing mudslide, the report states.
The Charodinsky District Administration has not reported the incident or its aftermath, and as of 5:42 p.m. Moscow time, there was no information about it on the Dagestanavtodor Telegram channel.
"Caucasian Knot" also reported that in the summer of 2024, several roads in the mountains of Dagestan were inaccessible after heavy rains hit the region. Due to flooding, mudslides, and landslides, more than 40 villages in the Agulsky, Akhtynsky, Kurakhsky, Charodinsky, Tlyaratinsky, and Rutulsky districts were left without transport, Dagestanavtodor reported.
