Two soldiers from the Volgograd region were killed in the SVO zone.

Grigory Kutsebko and Alexander Derbenev were killed in combat in Ukraine. Since the beginning of the military operation, at least 1,367 fighters from the Volgograd region have been officially recognized as killed in it.

Military Operation Statistics: Casualties Are Growing in Southern Russia
Since the beginning of the Military Operation, authorities and security forces have reported casualties among residents of the territories and regions of southern Russia, as well as the republics of the North Caucasus. The "Caucasian Knot" maintains overall casualty statistics for the regions of the Southern and North Caucasus Federal Districts, based on official data.

The "Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation. The list is compiled based on data officially released by government officials and law enforcement agencies.

On September 18, a farewell ceremony for AVO participant Alexander Derbenev was held in the village of Machekha in the Kikvidzensky District. His family, friends, fellow villagers, and representatives of the military commissariat and local administration attended the funeral, according to the district newspaper "Niva-Kikvidze."

Alexander Derbenev and his family moved to the village of Machekha in 2021 from the Krasnodar Territory and worked on a farm. In June 2025, Derbenev decided to join the AVO. He served as a private in a mortar platoon. His wife and three small children were waiting for him at home. On June 20, he was killed in the special military operation zone.

On September 23, the funeral of Grigory Kutsebko, a participant in the special military operation zone, was also held in the village of Machekha. According to the regional newspaper, representatives of the local and regional administrations, the military commissariat, relatives, and friends attended the funeral ceremony.

Grigory Kutsebko was 37 years old. He graduated from Machesha Secondary School in 2004. He completed his compulsory military service in the navy. After his service, he returned to his home village. He and his wife had four sons. In the spring of 2024, Kutsebko signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense. He served as a gunner in an airborne assault company of an airborne assault battalion. On April 12, 2025, a soldier was killed in the special operation zone.
