Seven residential buildings caught fire as a result of a wildfire spreading in the city of Kamensk-Shakhtinsky in the Rostov Region. A fire train was called in to extinguish the fires in the residential buildings and dry vegetation. At 3:05 p.m., firefighters contained the blaze, Interfax reported, citing the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations press service.
The fire was caused by a dry vegetation fire. Due to strong winds, the fire spread to residential buildings located on Sovetsky Lane and Vokzalnaya Street. "No casualties have been reported," RBC quotes the Ministry of Emergency Situations as saying.
City Head Alexander Kamotsky reported that a temporary accommodation center for victims has been set up at one of the city's schools.
"Today, a fire broke out in the Likhovsky microdistrict, presumably the result of a landscape fire. A temporary accommodation center is being set up in the Likhovsky microdistrict at the gymnasium of School No. 18," Kamotsky wrote on his Telegram channel.
