The Southern District Military Court sentenced Crimean native Yevgeny Shogin, who joined the Ukrainian armed formation in 2014, to 16 years in prison.

According to the investigation, in 2014 Shogin joined one of the Ukrainian armed formations that took part in military operations in the Donbass, Kommersant reports with reference to the court's press service.
A criminal case was opened against Shogin under Part 2 of Article 205.4 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (participation in a terrorist community). The court found him guilty and sentenced him to 16 years in prison in a maximum security penal colony. The sentence has entered into legal force.
Earlier, "Caucasian Knot" wrote that at the end of August, the Southern District Military Court sentenced Kherson region resident Vyacheslav Popovich to 27 years in prison, finding him guilty of treason and participation in a terrorist organization.
