A fighter from the Astrakhan region was killed in a military operation
Rashid Karamalaev was killed in combat. Since the beginning of the military operation in Ukraine, at least 602 fighters from the Astrakhan region have been officially recognized as killed.
As "Kavkazsky Uzel" wrote, by August 28, the authorities and security forces named 601 fighters from the Astrakhan region killed in the military operation in Ukraine.
Rashid Karamalaev was born on January 25, 1977, in the village of Kharba, Yustinsky District, Kalmyk ASSR. The family moved to Lenino, Yenotayevsky District, in 1980. He was raised in a large family, where, in addition to Rashid, there were three sisters and a brother. From 1996 to 1998, he served in the army. After completing his service, he worked at the Stalin plant in Astrakhan, then on shifts in the north of Russia as a ship hull welder. In recent years, he helped his brother run a peasant farm. In August 2024, Rashid decided to participate in the SVO. Less than two months later, he died while performing combat missions. The fighter left behind a minor daughter, the Yenotayevsky District Administration reported today on its Telegram channel.
Thus, at least 602 fighters from the Astrakhan Region have been officially recognized as killed in the military operation. "Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation. The list was compiled based on data officially announced by government officials and law enforcement agencies, according to the Caucasian Knot report "NVO statistics: losses are growing for the south of Russia".
State awards, memorial plaques and appearances on Channel One do not guarantee state support for the families of those killed, according to the Caucasian Knot report "Three comrades served: how the authorities are depriving the families of killed volunteers of benefits", which describes the stories of fighters from other regions.
