The person responsible for the collapse of the stands in Rostov-on-Don was sentenced to five years

A court in Rostov-on-Don has found a company director guilty in the case of the collapse of a stand during a children's football match in 2023.

As "Caucasian Knot" wrote, the case of the collapse of the stand was submitted to the court in Rostov-on-Don in July 2024. The defendant in the case was the director of the organization that installed the stand.

On May 30, 2023, in Rostov-on-Don, on the territory of a sports school, a stand collapsed during a football match in which children's teams from Rostov-on-Don and Bataysk played. A woman died, dozens of people were injured. A case was opened under the article on the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in the death of a person through negligence (Part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The second criminal case was opened under the article on negligence (Part 2 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation; provides for up to 5 years of imprisonment) against "unidentified officials" of Sports School No. 5.

The Kirov Court of Rostov-on-Don issued a verdict in a criminal case against the director of a company that manufactures metal structures, in the case of the collapse of a stand during a children's football match.

He was found guilty of committing a crime under paragraph "c" of Part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (production, transportation for sale and sale of goods that do not meet safety requirements), the Rostov Region Prosecutor's Office reported on its official website.

The collapse had serious consequences: a 45-year-old woman died, 56 spectators were injured, 36 of whom were minors, the department clarified.

The court found that in 2022, the defendant, under a contract, manufactured and installed five mobile stands on the territory of the Olympic Reserve Sports School No. 5 in Rostov-on-Don. The court sentenced the perpetrator to 5 years of imprisonment in a general regime penal colony with a fine of 400 thousand rubles, Interfax reports.
