Six people arrested in Dagestan in connection with kidnapping case

The court arrested six residents of Dagestan who are suspected of kidnapping a fellow countryman and forcing him to agree to pay them 6.5 million rubles.
On August 23, the Sovetsky District Court of Makhachkala arrested six local residents who are suspected of kidnapping a person and extortion.
According to the investigation, in June the suspects tricked a resident of Makhachkala into getting into a car and blocked the doors. They brought him to the Khasavyurt district, where there was a specially equipped room, used physical violence against him and forced him to agree to hand over 6.5 million rubles. After the victim agreed to give them the money, he was released, Kommersant writes.
Six suspects were detained after searches were conducted in Moscow and Makhachkala. The case is being investigated under paragraph "a" of Part 3 of Article 126 (kidnapping by an organized group) and paragraphs "a" and "b" of Part 3 of Article 163 (extortion by an organized group for the purpose of obtaining property on an especially large scale) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. All six have been arrested until October 13 of this year.
Earlier, "Kavkazsky Uzel" wrote that in May in the rural settlement of Yandare, a group of armed people forcibly put a man in a car and fled. It was later reported that the kidnapped man was found and hospitalized with injuries, and one of the suspects in his kidnapping was detained in Magas. On May 14, the detainee was arrested for two months.
