Residents of Makhachkala reported systemic power outages

Residents of the Reduktorny settlement in Makhachkala reported ongoing regular power outages. Makhachkala residents from other areas of the city are experiencing similar problems.

As "Kavkazsky Uzel" reported, since the morning of August 7, part of the Reduktorny settlement was again without power, local residents said. This happened after residents of the Reduktorny settlement in Makhachkala held a spontaneous street protest on August 6 due to the lack of power in their homes. The city administration then reported that power had been restored to most homes.

Since the morning of August 8, there has been no power on Gaptsakhskaya Street; on August 7, electricity was supplied intermittently, local resident Alim told a "Kavkazsky Uzel" correspondent.

"The elevators are not working, there is no water. The protest action of the Reduktorny residents, thanks to the resonance, somehow attracted the attention of the authorities, but the situation has not changed. Unlike in previous years, now people are afraid to go out to protest, and appeals to authorities do not bring any results,” the man said.

A resident of the Reduktorny settlement, Zagra, told a correspondent of the “Caucasian Knot” that in her house electricity has been supplied for more than a week for several hours a day.

“It’s hot in the city, the air conditioners do not work, and we are afraid to turn on household appliances, since due to constant shutdowns they can break down. There is no water, since the pumps do not work, my husband buys bottled water in the store and carries it to the 7th floor, since the elevator does not work,” Zagra noted.

A resident of a multi-story building on Khadzhi Bulacha Street, Maria, said that there have been interruptions in the power supply, and because of this, there have been interruptions in the water supply for two weeks. Although the power supply was restored on August 7, there has been no power in her house again since the morning of August 8.

“There is no power every day, because of this the water is constantly turned off. Sometimes we were without water for two days. If there is water, it flows in a thin stream, we immediately fill all the containers. We can’t turn on the washing machine, nor can we bathe ourselves or the children,” the woman said.

The owner of the grocery store Rasul said that he suffered losses due to the constant power outages. “Because of the non-working refrigerators, we had to throw out spoiled dairy products, ice cream, meat. Who will compensate for the losses? Almost all entrepreneurs in the Reduktorny settlement have a similar situation,” Rasul said.

Power supply problems in Reduktorny have persisted for more than one year: in the summer of 2024, residents of the settlement held a spontaneous protest due to a power outage, after which Dagenergo reported that power supply to houses in the settlement had been restored.

Residents of other areas of Makhachkala complain about the lack of electricity

“Yusupov Street opposite the customs office - no power for four days,” the Telegram channel “Ask Rasul” wrote at 0.11.

“In Makhachkala, at 71,7 Yusup Akayev Street and in the neighboring houses down Tatam Muradov Street, there has been no power for the third day. Yesterday we called Dagenergo every hour, several calls to 112, but to no avail,” a message from readers of Chernovik was published today.

Residents of Makhachkala regularly complain about problems with electricity and water supply. At the end of July, Makhachkala residents complained about long power outages lasting several days. Residents of the Reduktorny microdistrict, in particular, reported frequent power outages. Officials explained the power outages by repair work and abnormal heat.
