Armenia Accuses Azerbaijan of Shooting Excavator on Border

Equipment operating at Armenian positions near the border in the Syunik region was fired upon by Azerbaijani military, the Armenian Defense Ministry said.

According to the ministry, the incident occurred today at about 13:10 local time, several kilometers northeast of the village of Verishen in the Syunik region.

“Units of the Azerbaijani armed forces opened fire in the direction of an excavator that was carrying out work on the construction of inter-position roads,” the Armenian Defense Ministry said in a statement on its website. According to the ministry, no one was injured as a result of the shelling. Photos of the damaged equipment were attached to the statement.

The Armenian Defense Ministry called on the Azerbaijani side to investigate the shelling and provide public clarifications. As of 16:55 Moscow time, there are no comments on the website of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry or on the official Telegram channel of the department regarding this statement by Yerevan.

On April 21 and 23, the department reported that a residential building in the village of Khoznavar, Syunik region, was damaged as a result of shelling from Azerbaijan.
